We personally find that pink and blue are perfect for spring, summer and even early autumn. But green, and particularly red (surprisingly) are really very much year round.  

Red gingham says a nice undiscovered bistro somewhere on the Adriatic just as much as Christmas in the UK. It is food, wine and company that set the scene.
